VITAL:
There is very little information about his life. It is also claimed that he is not a historical figure but a legendary person who appeared in folk narrations. However, in addition to the first Ottoman chronicles, it is mentioned in some Byzantine sources due to its various military activities. The word Alp in his name is a title and probably indicates that he or his father was in the service of the Seljuk State. It is known that Turgut Alp was alive in 735 (1334-35), but it is understood that he is quite old. There are also some rumors about his closeness with Geyikli Baba, one of the dervishes living near Keşiş Mountain in the vicinity of İnegöl. His name was given to the İnegöl region after his death and this place is known as Turgut-province. Among historians living in the early Ottoman period, Aşıkpaşazâde, Neşri, and other historians also call the İnegöl region as Turgut-province. This naming XVI. century has disappeared completely.

Conquests:
According to the rumors in the first Ottoman sources, he was
found next to Osman Bey and participated in the capture of Yarhisar, then he
was assigned to the conquest of İnegöl. In the sources, it is mentioned that
while Turgut Alp was besieging the city, Osman Bey also came to help. It was
also noted that during the conquest of İnegöl, Aya Nikola, the city's dignity,
was executed due to hostile actions against the Turks, and the administration of
the city was given to Turgut Alp. After that, Turgut Alp, together with Köse
Mihal joined the conquest of Atranos (Orhaneli) alongside Orhan Gazi. The
castle was easily captured, as the judge of Atranos, who heard that Orhan Bey
had arrived, fell from a rock while escaping from the fortress. The capture of
Atranos facilitated the conquest of Bursa.
